Description

WestConnect is composed of electricity utility companies providing transmission services throughout the western United States. Its members work collaboratively to assess stakeholder and market needs and to develop cost-effective enhancements to the western transmission systems. WestConnect recently completed its Annual Ten-Year Transmission Plan, which provides a comprehensive overview of the large number of planned and conceptual transmission projects proposed within the planning area within 2015-2024. WestConnect is also in the first year of its FERC Order 1000 transmission planning process, and is preparing for its first full biennial planning cycle starting in 2016.

Keegan Moyer, WestConnect Planning Consultant, and Charlie Reinhold, WestConnect Project Manager, presented on the following:

• Provided background information on WestConnect including mission and opportunities for engagement
• Provided an overview of WestConnect’s 2015 Ten-Year plan with focus on the WRP region
• Highlighted progress WestConnect has and is making in the first year of its Order 1000 Regional Planning Process.
