WRP Energy Committee webinar on the Section 368 Regional Review Project. This webinar will run from 11 am to 12 noon Pacific.

Section 368 of the 2005 Energy Policy Act of 2005 directed the Secretaries of Agriculture, Commerce, Defense, Energy, and the Interior under their respective authorities to designate corridors on federal land in 11 Western States for oil, gas, and hydrogen pipelines and electricity transmission and distribution facilities. 

In response, Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the U.S. Forest Service (FS) designated approximately 6,000 miles of energy corridors in 2009. These energy corridors are now under a review and the BLM will provide an update on the status of the project. The outcome of each review is a report identifying potential corridor revisions, deletions or additions to improve the corridor network. Any changes to the corridors would be made through subsequent land use planning processes. For more information please see: http://corridoreis.anl.gov

This presentation is conducted by Georgeann Smale, Sec. 368 Program Lead, BLM Washington Office. This webinar will highlight:

• Background on the Section 368 Energy Corridors and the 2012 settlement agreement requirements.
• Update on the first Regional Review of corridors in southern California, southern Nevada, and western Arizona.
• News of the initiation of the second Regional Review of corridors in New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, the remainder of Arizona, and eastern Nevada.
• Information on the Section 368 mapper, a web-based GIS tool to facilitate stakeholder understanding and input.
• Opportunities for engagement in the reviews.
